friends and family mourn the death of a young half moon bay woman. >> the crowd asking one question, why was she shot by a sheriff deputy. i'm dan ashley. >> and i'm ama dates. she was shot after the sheriff's department says she went after a deputy with a knife. >> abc7 news reporter cornell bernard is live where people gathered to remember her. cornell? >> dan, about a hundred people came to this vigil demanding answers. meantime, the sheriff's department defending its use of deadly force. there was music, prayers and candles for 18-year-old garcia. these people are demanding justice.

tony read a statement trans plated by the -- translated by the family's priest. >> we want an investigation of what happened. >> he was shot and killed by the sheriff deputy. he responded to the p oi nt road after reports of a woman with a knife. this witness says he quickly turned the knife on the deputy. we agreed not to show her face on camera. >> i saw her chasing the car with the knife in her happened and holding -- in her hand and holding it like this. >> he was in a position where a woman was wielding a knife at him and to the point he was in fear for his life. in that quick decision moment he drew his weapon and fired. >> the department denies accusations that garcia was

shot in the back. the family says he suffered from depression and was taking medication. deadly force was not the answer. >> you can't just shoot someone that has a medical condition. it is frustrating. they could have tased her or shot her in the leg. >> she was a very caring person. >> the family has contacted an attorney and will have more to say. cornell bernard, abc7 news. >> now, the last shooting involving a san mateo county sheriff deputy was last year. that suspect survived. he was not involved in a fatal shooting since 2008. >> there are no casualties after a military jet crashed in a residential neighborhood this evening. the pilot safely ejected

before impact and survived. he was stationed out of an airbase in yuma, arizona. he was cleared to land at imperial county moments before going down destroying three homes. an investigation has been launched to determine what caused the crash. another based at the yuma airbase crashed on may 9th and that pilot safely bailed out as well. the neighborhood where the jet went down is located about 90 miles east of san diego. not far from the u.s.-mexico a los angeles jury heard testimony about a man that was beaten into a coma. they claimed the dodgers were negligent to not providing enough stadium security. the call was placed by a witness who saw two men attacking stoa. attacking stowe. >> someone got punched and knocked out. >> how do you think -- how old do you think he is?

is he awake? is he breathing? >> he is snoring and there is blood coming out of his ears. >> an assistant security manager said there were no security guards specifically assigned to the section where stowe was sitting, but there were two guards nearby who could have responded to trouble. people are worried and feeling threatened tonight after a home invasion robbery. it happened at a house where masked gunmen break in where people were sleeping. alan wang was live at the home tonight. alan, neighbors want police to do more. >> no arrests yet. and no party here tonight. when there is a party neighbors say there were between 40 and 50 people here and it is loud. neighbors assume these are all college students, but now they want to know who these people were associating with. >> they have had screaming matches with other neighbors in the past. their relations in our neighborhood is poor. >> for the past four years

between four and eight people, mostly students from saint mary's college have been renting this home in uh -- orinda. >> they are students with loud, noisy parties and we called police frequently to shutdown the parties. >> now neighbors who are afraid to be seen on camera believe the parties have attracted a criminal element to their community. shortly after midnight, arinda police say two masked men broke into the home where three people were sleeping and robbed them. two of the victims were pistol whipped and now police say the victims are not cooperating with the investigation. i spoke to one of them at the house. >> police say you are not cooperating with them. is there a reason why? is there a reason you are not cooperating with police? >> the incident added a safety issue to their concerns. >> we want it to go away. >> the escalation of a wild

party to a home invasion has neighbors demanding they do more than shutdown the noisy parties. alan wang, abc7 news. a day of action as hundreds of wal-mart workers went on strike across the country. they rallied at wal-mart in union city. it is to protest wages and what they claim is retaliation against workers who have spoken out against the company. >> i am appalled of a company that makes $16 billion a year are forcing families to work three or four jobs and forcing workers to rely on food stamps to feed their kids. >> on friday workers plan to attend the shareholder meeting in arkansas. they want the company to make a public commitment to pay living wages and give more employees full time work. in a statement wal-mart said the majority of those involved in the protest were not wal-mart employees. san francisco city attorney is taking legal action against muni drivers in an effort to end a three-day

worker sickout. today they filed unfair labor charges asserting that the sickout is illegal. riders still had to endure long waits for buses and trains. there is no word on whether drivers plan to continue their workout. they have no control over workers calling in sick. >> colin kaepernick is going to stay with the 49ers for the long haul. today the niners announced a new contract extension with the young quarterback worth reportedly $110 million and $15 million more in bonuses. $61 million is guaranteed. that's the biggest guaranteed money in nfl history. the six-year extension will keep him with the 49ers through the 202 have season. >> i am going to work to try to make sure i am worth every penny. this gives me all the more reason to go out and try to prove i can live up to the expectations and win this organization -- help this

they welcomed five-pound 4-ounce ange. some high school students showed off their musical creativity with a senior prank. the students at santa barbara high school hired a four-piece marriachi band to serenade the principal. the band followed him all over school. the principal said he didn't mind saying it was a very special sendoff. the great thing about that prank is i don't think it will get you suspended or expelled. >> it shows how much they like the principal. >> that's great. >> music all day. we want to let you know that meteorologist and weather anchor spencer christian is in new york right now. he has to get up very early too. he will fill in for ""good morning america"'s ginger sze. you can watch at 7:00 a.m.

yesterday. from our east bay hills camera, fog and shades of gray right now. san francisco 52 and it is 54 in oakland. san jose 62. 50 degrees right now in half moon bay. murky view from the golden gate bridge cam. you can't even see the to towers. low 50sin santa rosa. still mild in the inland valleys. concord and livermore midto upper 60s. from our exploratorium camera, the top of the trans america pyramid has disappeared in the fog. it is getting compressed. it is now a thousand feet. we have been talking about the fog being so deep. now it is getting compressed so it will be dense in patches for your morning commute. a wide range of temps heats up inland and you look at the satellite picture and here is the deal. it was warmer today because the wind flowing from the high to the low is actually lighter. we have the light sea breeze and an indication that was shifting to a warmer pattern.

the high pressure is going to take up the heat a little bit as we head toward the weekend. as you look here 78 is the average high for this time of year. the next couple days a lot like today. low 90s for this type of year. low 90s for this time of year. it is going to get toasty, but temperatures will taper as we head toward next week. give yourself plenty of time, but it will be slow going due to the fog. upper 40s to the upper 50s. though it starts off cool and you may need an extra layer for the afternoon it is going to be sunny and warm. you will need the sunscreen. 92 antioch and those are some of the warmest spots. 84 in napa and 78 in santa rosa. 74 in oakland. 61 in half moon bay. with some lingering fog. 80 in palo alto and 83 san jose and 71 in santa cruz. the accu-weather seven-day forecast, 30-degree spread from coast to inland the next
